| Job Description |
The Parque Nacional Marino Ballena was founded in 1989 as the first (and only) national aquatic park in Costa Rica. The park consists of 110 terrestrial hectares and 5375 marine hectares, including 5 types of coral in its extensive reef. From January to March, you may spot ballenas (whales) migrating from Southern California with their newborns. From September to November, whales migrate from the south through the park. Baby tortoises hatch in a sand pit next to the ranger station from June to September.
Work description: Monitoring for the turtle conservation project, environmental education with 5 schools in the park zone, educational materials design.
Cost of Living/Admin/Transportation expenses include: Lodging / Food in the communities or natural reserves during your entire stay. Pre- departure information packages (sent by email) Volunteer work placement, according with your preferences. Airport Pick up and drop off Arrival orientation and information packages. (maps, information about history, culture, security, health, etc.) Support from the staff during your stay in Costa Rica. Volunteer Certificate and letters of recommendation if required. First / last night in a hostel in San Jose, transportation by bus from San Jose to the project, Total Cost: $ 700 per month |
